This audio tour of the historical centre of Berlin will begin at Schlossplatz square, on the site of the 15th century Berlin City Palace. From here, we will make our way to Alexanderplatz. We will pass through the charming old Nikolai quarter, founded in the 13th century, as well as gigantic 19th-century Rotes Rathaus City Hall.

On this visit we will discover the fascinating historical center of Berlin.

In the middle ages, it was at this location, then Slavic land, that a small German colony settled. From it sprung a town that has become the capital of Germany and a gigantic royal castle stood on the banks of the Spree for centuries. Today we shall see what stand in its place: the government buildings of the GDR, from which the totalitarian regime guided East Berlin with an iron hand.
We will then walk over to the Alexanderplatz television tower, one of Berlins most powerful symbols. On our way there we will admire the Old Royal Stables, stroll in charming old Nicholas neighborhood (a haven of peace in the midst of the citys hustle and bustle) and see the gigantic 19th-century Rotes Rathaus City Hall, before ending our walk at the church of St. Mary with its lovely Gothic architecture and art treasures. All of these sites will allow us to evoke some of the major episodes in the history of this city.

How do I receive the guided tour I've chosen?

1. You will need to start at the 'Pricing and Availability' section at the bottom of this page. As this audio tour can be used on any day of your choice, you can select either of the available dates which appear  in the 'Select a Date' drop down menu to proceed with your purchase. Please note that the date selected does not necessarily have to be the date you use the tour.
2. Upon payment for the product, Pocket Vox (the provider of the Audio Tour) will contact you directly with downloading instructions, within 48 hours of your purchase. An automatic booking confirmation will also be sent to you for your records.
3. Once Pocket Vox has contacted you, your tour will be available for downloading for a period of 6 days. Your audio tour can then be transferred onto the MP3 player of your choice, provided that it has sufficient memory (guides are generally 10Mb in size.)

Upon downloading your audio guide, you will also be provided with an itinerary and maps for your tour. Once you make your way to the stated starting point, simply play your audio guide and you'll be told you in which direction to look, where to go, and be provided with very precise directions of how to get to each attraction - you're almost guaranteed not to get lost!

When you complete a chapter, or if you decide to stop for a cup of coffee or simply want to take the time to go for a stroll, just press pause and the guided tour will wait for you. Later on, you can pick up at the point where you left off your tour. Convenient to use and so easy.
